Google - Not so clever after all?

Google announced in a blog post yesterday, penned by Google Fellow and Vice President of Engineering Benjamin Smith, that they're throwing in the towel in their battle to keep the social web alive.

The wording wasn't quite as pictured above, but it might as well have been.

If you feel that the "social web" is alive and well please provide some evidence thereof in the comments.

Thanks.

  1. Well, I wouldn't say I'm known for being "social" ("anti-" would be more applicable :D),
    but I use G+.

I'm not on Twitter (yet), or Facebook (yet), or LinkedIn (yet) ...
... but I'm on G+, and technically have been for 6+ years?
I've not only been online posting, I've been interacting and engaging.

If that isn't "Social", what is?

    1. Lol, @Lyndon I'm after evidence that the social web is alive and well outside of Google+.

Twitter is the only network from the ones you mentioned where people can (kind of) communicate with each other reasonably freely. The other two require asking for "permission" prior to doing so.

Which is a rather loaded request.
