(Are you?) Too Dumb for Smart Replies

Replies on Telegram are SMART. Are you too dumb to use them?

Telegram groups can be way bigger that on other messaging Apps. For example the (current) max number of people for a WhatsApp group is 256 participants, for Signal it is 1000, for Telegram it is 200,000! Personally I'm not in any Telegram groups that come close to that, but even small groups can get noisy. The answer to notification noise is of course to MUTE the group. That's where "smart replies" come in. 

The logic goes like so: if you've muted a group that is because you class most of the group activity as noise, but there are some things which you'll still want to see. For example; replies to your messages, or messages where someone is directly addressing you with an @mention. This is exactly what smart replies are: notifications for high value actions. 

Smart Replies: Dumb Users

Unfortunately smart replies can't help dumb users. Dumb users think the message they've sent after a previous message counts as a reply. It doesn't. 

Smart users know the difference between a response and a reply. Smart users respond with a reply.
