Less Push - More Pull

Social media has gone a bit shouty.

Instagram is possibly the worst offender, where it is culturally acceptable to push notifications by tagging multiple accounts, stuffing captions full of mentions, then adding a few dots to push your hashtag spam conveniently out of sight.

In a noisy world it's more and more tempting to join others using techniques to PUSH out notifications hoping to cut through the noise, but users will take action.

Shouting louder will lead to users dialling you down using options like mute or block. You could end up shouting to an empty room.

Fine-tune into things that you care about using search, by turning notifications on for specific users or by turning notifications on for collections on topics you care the most about.

Instead of trying to PUSH posts to ever more people focus on posting quality out and tune into what you care about: get more from social. Less push - More pull.
